Call for Applications
The Korea Foundation is pleased to invite foreign students who are currently undertaking their PhD coursework or are in the process of writing their dissertations on topics related to Korean literature. The 2019 Korean Literature Workshop for Doctoral Students is designed to reinforce the presence of Korean studies abroad, especially in the field of Korean literature, by providing doctoral students with opportunities to learn more about the latest research trends and findings, receive guidance on dissertation writing, and visit literary sites in Jeju.
Program Overview
- Keynote lecture
- Introduction of literature-related research issues and trends in and outside of Korea
- Presentations of participants’ theses/research work
- Guidance on dissertation preparation
- Network building of doctoral candidates and professors of Korean literature
- Visit to Jeju for literary and/or cultural activities

July 7-13, 2019 / Seoul and Jeju
Number of Participants
- Up to 30 PhD students who are registered at overseas universities (Including up to 5 PhD students who are registered at universities in Korea)
Program Qualifications
Doctoral students who fulfill the following criteria:
- Currently undertaking doctoral coursework at a university on a subject related to Korean literature; and
- Able to deliver a presentation on their thesis project in Korean or English; and
- Able to understand lectures delivered in Korean; and
- Hold foreign nationality (Korean nationals undertaking doctoral coursework at overseas universities with permanent residency status where he/she pursues their degrees are also eligible.)
※ Depending on the number of qualified applicants, the Korea Foundation reserves the right to grant priority to students in the process of writing their doctoral dissertations.

- Notification of Results: April 12, 2019
