Korean History Workshop for Overseas Doctoral Students
The Korea Foundation is conducting a new workshop program for doctoral students of Korean history who are currently undertaking their PhD course work and/or in the process of writing their dissertations on Korean history themes. This program is designed to reinforce the presence of Korean Studies abroad, especially in the field of Korean history, by providing doctoral students with opportunities to learn about the latest research trends/findings, receive guidance on dissertation writing, and visit historical archives in Korea.
Program Overview
-Lectures by distinguished scholars of Korean history
-Discussion of history-related research issues and trends in and out of Korea
-Presentations of participants’ theses/research work
-Guidance on dissertation preparation
-Network building of doctoral candidates and professors of Korean history
-Historical resource archive visits
-Cultural activities
Program Qualifications
Doctoral students who are:
-Undertaking doctoral course work at universities outside of Korea in the field of Korean history-related subjects;
-Able to make a presentation on their thesis project in Korean or English; and
-Foreign nationals (Korean nationals with permanent residency status in a country outside Korea are eligible)
√ Depending on the number of qualified applicants, the Korea Foundation reserves the right to grant priority to students in the process of writing their doctoral dissertations.
Number of Available Participants: Up to 30 PhD students
Workshop Period: July 20-26, 2015

· Economy-class round-trip airfare to/from Korea
· Accommodations and meals during the workshop period

How to apply
The aforementioned Required Documents for Application should be submitted by email to the Korea Foundation’s Korean Studies Department at fellow@kf.or.kr by May 20, 2015.
Results will be available in late May.
