The LTI Korea Award for Aspiring Translators has been held every year since 2002 to invigorate the field of Korean literature translation by searching out the best new translators who will bring Korean literature to overseas readers in the future.
The contest is open to translations into English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese of a set text. Translations are screened and evaluated and winners are selected.
Anyone who has not received official translation funding or had any translation of Korean literature published in the target language is eligible. Submission of co-translated entries is not permitted.
For each language, after a preliminary screening process, entries are judged and prizewinners selected. For translations into English 2 winners are selected and for all other languages one winner is chosen to receive the prize money and a plaque.
