International students who have genuine interest and passion in Korean studies are very welcome to apply if they have a bachelor’s or a Master’s degree with Korean language proficiency equivalent to or higher than TOPIK level 4. Also from this semester, those with English language proficiency equivalent to or higher than TOFEL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, or TEPS 301 are eligible to apply for Korean Culture and Society major without a TOPIK certificate. The Korean Culture and Society major is only available for Master’s degree program, and most courses are taught in English unlike other majors whose courses are provided in Korean.
학사 또는 석사 학위를 소지하고 TOPIK 4급 이상의 한국어 실력이 있는, 무엇보다 한국학에 대해 진지한 관심과 열정을 가진 외국인 학생이면 지원 가능합니다. 특히 이번 학기부터는 TOFEL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, TEPS 301 이상 공인 영어 성적 소지자는 TOPIK 성적이 없어도 한국문화학 석사 과정에 지원할 수 있게 되었습니다. 한국문화학 전공은 석사 과정만 모집하며, 대부분의 수업이 한국어로 진행되는 다른 전공과 달리 영어로 강의가 이루어집니다.
These are some examples of what our international students enjoy:
○ 외국인 학생 전원에게 수학기간 동안 등록금이 면제됩니다.
Tuition fees are fully waived for the whole coursework period for all international students.
○ 입학성적 우수자에게 월 75만원의 국비장학금이 1년간 지급됩니다 (평가 후 연장 가능, 현재 외국인 학생의 국비장학금 수혜율 : 66.7%).
66.7% of international students benefit from the Government Grant, a monthly stipend of $650 for a year, renewable upon evaluation.
○ 교수 1명당 학생 5명의 비율로 소수 정예 교육을 실시합니다.
A 5:1 student-faculty ratio enables close one-to-one guidance by professors.
○ 학술적 글쓰기, 발표, 토론을 위한 한국어 강의가 무료로 제공됩니다.
Korean language courses are offered free of charge to assist international students with academic writing, presentations, and discussions.
○ 튜터링, 글쓰기 클리닉, 한국 문화 체험, 해외학술대회 발표시 항공료 지원 등 다양한 방식으로 학습을 지원합니다.
Various programs such as tutoring, writing clinic, cultural activities and airfare subsidy for presentation abroad, etc. support students’ academic performance.
